Beta.4 · Platform status

Windows and Linux testing packages.

Windows portable and Linux AppImage and Debian ZIPs are available above. Native GUI and hardware sleep/wake testing remain unverified. Startup and native wake-request support are included in code, not a guarantee that your computer will wake.

This build expires October 28, 2026 at 08:40:28.369 UTC (2026-10-28T08:40:28.369Z), 30 days after build time—not installation. After expiry, TV control stops while diagnostics and cleanup remain available.

Mac · In development
DMG builds are configured for Apple Silicon and Intel, but have not been built on a Mac runner. Signing, notarization, native app testing, and sleep/wake testing remain pending.
Windows installer · Pending
The complete unpacked Windows runtime is available as a portable ZIP. The NSIS installer build could not complete because Wine was unavailable. There is no beta.4 installer download.

Wake support depends on your hardware and OS settings. Mac and Linux wake setup requests administrator approval; Linux also needs systemd and a supported hardware wake clock. You must stay signed in with the app running. Wake requests cannot unlock the computer or power on a shut-down machine. No release date has been announced.

Which package?

Windows: extract the whole portable ZIP and run TV Night Guard Beta/TV Night Guard Beta.exe, keeping all runtime files together. Linux: extract the AppImage ZIP and mark the AppImage executable, or extract the Debian ZIP and install the .deb. Setup instructions.

Checking the file

Before extracting, use Get-FileHash .\file.zip -Algorithm SHA256 in Windows PowerShell or sha256sum file.zip on Linux. Replace file.zip with the downloaded filename and compare with its SHA-256 above. If they differ, do not open it. Never disable security protection.

Updating

There is no automatic update check. Quit from the tray before replacing the entire Windows portable runtime folder, replacing an AppImage, or installing a newer .deb. Keep local app data to preserve settings, then confirm pairing and quiet hours. Before moving the app, disable startup and wake options and save; re-enable them after moving it.
