Does turning off The Frame stop Art Mode?
Short answer
Often, no. On many Samsung The Frame TVs, a short press of the power button moves the TV into Art Mode, which keeps the screen lit with artwork. To get the screen fully dark, you usually need a long press on the remote’s power button or a true power-off command. Check your own model, because behavior varies by year and firmware.
Why The Frame behaves differently
The Frame is designed to look like a picture on the wall when you are not watching it. Samsung made Art Mode the natural resting state, so the everyday “off” gesture often means “show art” rather than “screen off.” For a living room during the day, that is the point. At night, many families want the screen truly dark.
How to confirm a true off state
- Turn the TV on to regular viewing.
- Press and hold the remote’s power button for a few seconds, rather than tapping it.
- Look at the screen in a dim room. Fully off means no artwork and no glow from the panel.
- If you see art, it went to Art Mode. Try the long press again, or check your TV’s Art Mode and power settings.
Some models also have settings related to Art Mode’s motion and brightness sensors. Names and menus differ, so use your TV’s own manual for exact steps.
Keeping it off at night
Turning it off once is easy. The harder part is when someone turns it back on after bedtime. A sleep timer will not help with that. See quiet hours versus sleep timers.
